Fairfield, AL.-Uyl Joyner threw for 322 yards and ran for two touchdowns as the Albany State Golden Rams (1-1) proved to be too much for the Miles (1-1)Golden Bears Saturday in a 27-12 victory at Sloan-Alumni Stadium.
Joyner got the scoring started in the second quarter with a 8 yard touchdown run to put the Rams ahead 6-0. After an Edward Harper 2 yard score later on in the quarter, Joyner went over the top for a 1 yard touchdown with 22 seconds to go in the half giving ASU a 21-0 lead at the break.
The Albany State defense proved to be just as tough, holding the Bears to just 162 total yards. Antonio Atkins led the Rams rushing attack, tallying 70 yards on the ground.
Albany State travels to Carrollton next week to face West Georgia.
