Undated-- Hunters in the northern zone north of Highway 280, from Columbus to Ware County can begin hunting at noon Saturday. The Southern zone may head to the field at noon September 27th.

Because of the wet summer, there should be a lot of dove available for the hunter.

"It's a tradition throughout the South, especially here in Southwest Georgia," said Wildlife Biologist Steve Ruckel. "People grew up hunting various game species, and continue to pass that down to their children."

The Department of Natural Resources reminds all hunters to review state regulations in dove hunting. Next Saturday archery deer hunting season will open across Georgia.
