Albany- The Sherwood Christian Eagles started this season with a 17-game losing streak.
That streak is now a distant memory after the Sherwood Christian beat Central Fellowship last Friday for their second win in as many games.
Senior Jesse Thompson said "It is a blast going into a season. it is such a different feeling but such a motivating thing to win two ballgames. It makes you want to work harder and harder."
So how did a team whose senior class had just three wins in their first two years suddenly turn their fortunes around.
The players say the answer is a head coach who believes in them even after enduring a winless season in his first year.
Senior Brent Shearer said "Just the fact he (Jimmy Field) stayed in two years. We have had four coaches in the past four years, four different coaches and the fact that he has just stayed two years is a big shock for everybody. So, we are all excited about what he has brought to this program."
Most importantly, the 2-0 start has fired up the entire school as all Sherwood Christian fans are eagerly waiting for Friday's home opener against Windsor.
Jesse Thompson said "We are glad people are coming out to support us. We hope to put on a good show and get a victory."
Sherwood Christian's game at home against Windsor kicks off at eight o'clock Friday night.
