Lowndes County - A South Georgia teen struck by lightning over the weekend has died.

Fifteen year old Jonathan Frances Murphy passed away around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at Shands Hospital in Gainsville.

He was hit by lightning Sunday night outside his home on Spain Ferry Road near Valdosta. He suffered several heart attacks and surgeons installed a pacemaker.

Jonathan's brother says he died of cardiac failure.

He was a sophomore at Lowndes High School.
