Albany - The City of Albany has formed an alliance to improve and promote the Marine Base so it won't be shut down during the upcoming round of base realignment and closures.
Mayor Tommy Coleman says this is the biggest challenge of his career. The base has an annual payroll of $218 million dollars, and approximately 3000 people work there.
