Deputy attacked by dog

August 27, 2003

Thomasville - Deputy Don Allen was on a call Monday afternoon when he was attacked by a pit bull. The dog was on a cable, but attacked Allen as he was walking to the back of his car.

The owner, Luke Carroll, had been charged with having a vicious dog before, but the case was dismissed.

Captain John Richards says, "The dog attacked him in his groin area and took him to the ground and then tried to get on top of him. "Of course when that happened the deputy had to put the dog down with his service weapon."

The dog's owner, may be charged with having a dangerous dog.
