Albany -- Infant car seats are being given away this week at the Dougherty County Health Department.

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety and Albany Police Officers are teaching parents how to properly install the car seats when they pick them up. 80 car seats were bought with a grant, so they can be given to people who can not afford one.

Linda Beaulieu with Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention said "It's so important that children be restrained when traveling in the vehicle. Because the forces of a crash would throw them around the car and cause them fatal injuries probably."

The car seats will be given away at the Health Department. Bring your child when you apply to receive one.
