A Lowndes County man is behind bars after deputies uncovered nearly half a million dollars of marijuana.
Albany- 39 year old David Scott Norton lost control of his car, ran off the road, and slammed into a electricity pole around 1:30 Sunday morning.
The accident happened on Old Dawson Road near St. Andrew's Subdivision. Norton died on impact. The downed electric pole caused power to go out in the Saint Andrews neighborhood.
Police found open beer cans inside the vehicle. The wreck is still under investigation.
