Ashburn, Ga.-- The Turner County Rebels hope a veteran offensive line can pave the way for bigger and better things this year in Ashburn.
Head coach Lee Hamner believes his offensive line will play a big part in what the Rebels will try to accomplish offensively this season, whether it's opening up holes for the backs or buying time for his sophomore quarterback Russell Coker.
Junior James Pitts and senior Ferrell Crickett are the anchors of a line that returns 4 starters from a year ago. In all six Rebels are back on both sides of the ball, from a team that finished the year 1-8 and 1.
Hamner says if the Rebels are to improve on that mark this year, it will be largely because of the guys up front.
"If our offensive line improves and does the things I think they can do then it's going to help our young backfield that we've got and we've got to count on our offensive line this year," Hamner said.
Turner County travels to Fitzgerald to open the season next Friday.
