Faith Based program starts in Albany

August 22, 2003

Albany - The Department of Corrections hopes faith based programs will help prisoners transition into society easier.

A meeting was held Friday morning to encourage church leaders and parole officers in the area to get prisoners and parolees involved in a faith based program. They believe the program will help transition prisoners back into society, and keep them from being re incarcerated.

"I've heard a lot of good things about the faith based community in this area," says Chairman Milton Nix. "I look forward to what they're doing."

The program will be completely voluntary.
