Lowndes County - A body found last month beside a South Georgia highway has been identified as 73-year-old Richard M. Laury, who had been living at a halfway house in Ocala, Florida.

Laury disappeared January 28th after withdrawing money from an account and purchasing a bus ticket to Valdosta. His body was found July 16th by two city workers who were mowing grass along South Saint Augustine Road in Valdosta.

The body was so decomposed that they had to use dental records to identify Laury. He died of natural causes. Laury had been serving a sentence for second degree murder.
