VSU's Erwin off to good start at U.S. Amateur

Oakmont, Pa.- Valdosta State golfer Chris Erwin has advanced to the next round of the United State Amateur.

Erwin followed up his round of 69 Monday on the Pittsburgh Field Course with a 76 on the tougher Oakmont Country Club Course for a two day total of 145.

Erwin earns the 28th of 64 seeds and faces J.J. Killen in the first round of match play on Wednesday.

Two Albany players are heading home.  Brent Dorner shot an 85 at Oakmont and finished at 24 over par.  Dave Hill shot a 78 at Pittsburgh and was 20 over for the two rounds.
