Albany- Monday kicks off "Salute to Military Week." Veterans at VFW Post 2785 will hold several events throughout the week and gather to share old war stories with fellow veterans.

Many say they are just happy the country is taking time to recognize them.

"When I came back from Vietnam I was just another soldier, another guy on the street. There was no ticker tape new, no TV interviews that I saw on TV for any of the Vietnam veterans," says Homer Lassiter, who did two tours in the Vietnam War.

Lassiter says people should not for get to salute the thousands of servicemen and women who are still fighting overseas.
