Albany - Workers for the American Red Cross say they are in desperate need of blood donors. With less than a one day supply of blood in South Georgia, many hospitals, like Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, may soon have to cancel surgeries. Centers in Albany and Valdosta are holding extended hours this weekend in order to attract donors.

To find out hours of operation or make an appointment to donate, call the Albany Door Center at 229-889-9000, or the Valdosta Donor Center at 229-241-1141.
