THOMASVILLE - An explosion at Garrison-Pilcher Elementary School seriously injures two Thomas County men.

School maintenance worker Ronnie Stephens, and electrician, Elbert Hurst, were working on the panel box in the control room behind the school cafeteria when the elctricity arked and exploded.

Both men were badly burned in the accident that happened just before lunch.

They were airlifted to an Augusta Burn Center where they were listed in good condition Friday night.

Power was knocked out to the whole school, but the 1,200 students remained on campus until the end of the school day.
