Truck driver sentenced for fatal accident

Cook County - A Florida man is sentenced to 10 years probation for causing an accident that killed six people.

Forty-eight year old Richard Donald Herndon of Live Oak was driving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 when he plowed into the back of a minivan, pushing it into another tractor trailer and minivan.

One of the minivans burst into flames, killing six passengers inside. They victims were returning home to Locust Grove from a church retreat in St. Augustine.

Herndon was also given 600 hours of community service. He'll serve that speaking at truck driving clinics about the dangers of reckless driving.
