Pelham - A police officer shoots himself in his hand while off duty.

Pelham Police Canine Officer Malcom Hurst accidentally shot a large hole under his left pinky finger.

Hurst was at home checking his gun for rust due to recent rains. He was re-loading the gun when it went off.

Hurst underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
