Albany,Ga.--The Albany State Golden Rams hitting the field this morning for their first official practice of the fall, just two days removed from the tragic death of 26 year old walk on Jackie Blanding.
ASU head coach Mike White had suspended practice indefinitely, but decided to give it a go this morning after meeting with his team Thursday night and Friday morning. Blanding died Thursday morning shortly after participating in a conditioning drill.
The Rams have decided to dedicate the season to Blanding, and White says although it was tough to get back into the swing of things today he thinks it helped their grieving process.
"It was actually good for us to get back on the field, it did us good. I think dealing with the counselors, I think it was good for us to get back in a normal way of doing business," White said.
A memorial service for Jackie Blanding is being planned, but no time or date had been set.
