Lee Co. - Drivers on Highway 82 were stuck in traffic today while they waited for the DOT to clear a wreck. A tractor-trailor truck slid off of the road at 5:30 this morning and it took workers more than 8 hours to get it out of the ditch.

Tow trucks first tried pulling it out, but the truck got bogged down in the mud. Workers then removed more than 44,000 pounds of fertilizer from the truck in order to lighten it for removal.

Driver Billy O'Neal says " I left and was coming down the road and slid off the road, and mud grabbed me and I went down the ditch."

One lane was completely closed to traffic while workers cleaned up the wreck.
