Valdosta- Gulf South Conference coaches believe that Valdosta State will become the first team to win four straight league football titles.
The three time Gulf South champs, who are ranked number one or two in most national preseason polls, are the preseason pick to win the league title after getting nine of 11 first place votes from the conference's head coaches.
Valdosta State, who has won 22 straight conference games, became the first team since 1995 to win the Gulf South Conference title after being picked to do so in the preseason.
Running back Aaron Jenskins, last year's offensive player of the year in the conference, is one of six Blazers to earn pre-season all-conference honors.
The senior from Leary needs 1,161 yards to become the Gulf South Conference's all-time leading rusher.
Other Blazers making the Gulf South Confernce's pre-season team are quarterback Buster Faulkner, offensive lineman Torrey Howard, defensive end Tim Thompson, linebacker Marlin Adams and Wesley Brown on special teams as a kick blocker.
Former Monroe High standout Anthony Maddox of Delta State was also a preseason
all-conference selection at defensive tackle.
Valdosta State, who came within eight points of winning the Division two national championship last year, will open fall campWednesday afternoon after 106 players reported for practice yesterday.
