Dougherty County -- Albany firefighters say lightning has hit nearly two dozen homes in Dougherty County this year.

It happened to Ronnie Adams' home on Parrish Lane yesterday afternoon. No one was home, but a neighbor said she heard one of the loudest booms of thunder ever.

When Adams got home from work he found a hole behind the dormer window on his roof. Inside there are two huge holes where the sheet rock was blown away. The air conditioner, televisions, and computer were also damaged. But fortunately there was little or no fire damage.

Two people have reported being struck by lightning in Dougherty County this year, but neither suffered serious injuries.
