Albany house fire caused by clothes iron

July 31, 2003

Albany -- An Albany home burns when a resident forget to turn off the iron. Firefighters were called to this home in the 600 block of West Fire Avenue about 11 Thursday morning.

Smoke was pouring from inside the house. Firefighters had to chop a hole in the roof to fight the blaze inside two bedrooms. The home owner, Eva Lee, and her two children were not at home when the fire started.

Investigators determined that an iron left on in one bedroom ignited the blaze. Two bedrooms suffered extensive fire damage, while the entire home sustained an estimated 10 thousand dollars in smoke and water damage.
