ALBANY - A Leesburg man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon after he slammed into a service truck head-on.

James Fleming, 42, of Leesburg, was driving west on Stuart Avenue when he crossed the center line and crashed into a Sizemore Plumbing truck, driven by 25-year-old Kenneth Jarrell, also of Leesburg.

Witnesses told police Fleming was riding the center line and suddenly veered into on-coming traffic. It is unclear why.

The force of the impact crushed the front of the 1993 Chevy Astrovan, pinning Fleming inside for about an hour.  Firefighters used jaws of life to free him and Paramedics transported him to a local hospital with serious injuries to his arm, hip and leg.

Jarrell was not injured in the accident.

Traffic was detoured for almost two hours on the busy two-lane road while Fleming was rescued and police completed their investigation.

Fleming will be charged with failure to maintain lane. Other charges could be filed.
