Cook County - An early morning accident on Interstate 75 leaves north and south bound traffic backed up for more than a mile.

The driver of a semi carrying thousands of hamburger patties crashed into the back of a truck pulling a camper. State troopers believe the driver of the semi may have fallen asleep.

Both vehicles landed in the median, shutting down the inside lanes of north and south bound traffic.

"The trailer ran completely over the top of the camper, and scattered debris all over both the north and southbound lanes," said Corporal Donald Whitaker.

The driver of the semi was taken to Adel Memorial and treated for minor injuries. The driver of the truck wasn't hurt.

The accident happened around 6:00 Wednesday morning. It took over 4 hours to clean up the mess and reopen the all lanes.
