Mitchell County- The child was on the deck around the above ground pool when he fell in.

Several children were around the pool at this home on Briarwood Road in northern Mitchell County around two this afternoon.

The adult at the home tried to perform CPR until paramedics arrived. The toddler was rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3 p.m.

"The child's mother and her other children were visiting, and the mother left the home for a short period of time," said Bubba Lamb, Mitchell County Investigator. "The children were outside and the baby fell into a pool."

Investigators don't expect to file any charges in the case.
