(Cincinnati-AP) -- Cincinnati has fired manager Bob Boone and general manager Jim Bowden just hours before a make-up game with Philadelphia.
Bench coach Ray Knight, who lives in Albany, will run the team for today's game then give way to Dave Miley for the rest of the season. Miley has been the manager of the Reds Triple-A affiliate in Louisville.
The Reds are in the middle of a disappointing season in their new ballpark with a 46-and-58 record. That has them fifth in the six-team National League Central, ten-and-a-half games out of first.
Boone and Bowden were in the final year of their contracts. Bowden had been the team's general manager since 1993 surviving the tumultuous era of Marge Schott's ownership.
