Dougherty County - Some South Georgia teenagers are learning what it takes to be a police officer. The Dougherty County police department is hosting a summer explorer program to expose high school students to careers in law enforcement.

Officer Erica Price is one of the programs instructors. "The response has been awesome," says Price. "It's just been a wonderful experience, a new experience for us also."

"I would definitely recommend this program to other kids," says participant Nichelle Miller. "It kind of gives them an insight on the jobs and tasks that a police officer has, and I feel that it's rewarding."

The program lasted for a week and ended Friday with a graduation ceremony and cookout.
