A run-down Dawson building could one day be a stop on a planned "Southwest Georgia Art Trail."

This use to be the Bob's Dollar Store in downtown Dawson. The Better Hometown Task Force bought the dilapidated building in April, with plans to turn it into a theater and cultural center. The group hopes to one day create an "Art Trail", where visitors would stop in several cities to see plays, art shows and other attractions.

Manager Rhonda Gordon says, "And maybe go to Plains, Colquitt, Americus, Albany, and stop here it would mean a lot of tourism dollars for all these small communities in the area."

The Task Force is trying to raise a half million dollars to complete the renovations. The group plans to have a fundraiser in the fall and has applied for One Georgia Grant money.
