Life net crew services South Georgia

July 17, 2003

Valdosta - The Life Net helicopter crew, based in Tallahassee, is now serving South Georgia.  Thursday, people in Valdosta got a chance to meet the crew and tour the aircraft at South Georgia Medical Center.

The crew provides rapid, critical transport to hospitals within a 100 mile radius of Tallahassee, as far north as Albany and south as Gainesville, Florida.

Chief Paramedic Charles Usery says the service will be a big benefit for people living in rural areas.  "You may live in rural Mitchell County and need immediate transport to a bigger hospital like in Albany or Tallahassee," said Usery.  "We can get you to the hospital you need to, in a rapid, safe manner."

The Life Net crew is based out of the Tallahassee Regional Airport. The new service began July 1.
