Chicago-Cairo preacher Johnny Hasick's prayers were answered Monday night when Anaheim Angels All-Star Garet Anderson cranked nine home runs in the final round of the Home Run Derby to defeat St. Louis' slugger Albert Pujols by one.
In winning the derby Anderson also pocketed 250,000 dollars towards a new house for Hasick. Afterwards Hasick said it was nerve-racking to sit and watch how the final round played out.
"It's intense is what it is, to answer your question. Because he batted and then the next guy bats and your stomach gets tighter and tighter. But yes, I found out a whole lot about Garet Anderson between the time that I chose him and this evening's contest. But I figure a preacher and an Anaheim Angel make a pretty good combination, don't you reckon," Hasick said.
