Cordele - Saturday wrapped up watermelon days in Cordele. Every year the watermelon capital celebrates the juicy fruit with a festival.

Watermelon slices to watermelon clothes. Everywhere you looked in Cordele on Saturday, there was watermelon. The festivities kicked off with a parade through downtown early this morning.

After the parade, it was time to head over to watermelon park for food, rides, and lots of fun.

Samuel Green entered the watermelon eating competition and says he didn't eat all day "I'm saving it for the watermelon," says Samuel. He didn't win this year, but says next year, he'll be ready.

This was the 54th annual Watermelon Festival in Cordele.
