Macon- College coaches and players from across the peach state were in Macon this morning for the third annual Pigskin Preview.
With the countdown to kickoff for the 2003 season now down to just under a month, football was the topic of discussion at Macon's Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
For coaches like Georgia's Mark Richt, who led the Bulldogs to their first SEC Championship title in 20 years last season, and Valdosta State's Chris Hatcher, who came just a few plays short of winning a national championship, the 2003 season will be about building off of last year's success.
"I think expectations have always been high at Georgia, and I expected them to be high when I got here. I want them to be high, I want guys to expect to win, I want the fans to expect to win. I want people to care about how we perform, that's what makes it exciting," Coach Richt said.
"You know we're riding high right now, we want to stay there because we have a lot of goals that we haven't met. Basically next season our goal is to win one more than we did last year. And then we'll finally reach that goal of being number one that we've sought after the past three seasons, Coach Hatcher said.
The Blazers and Bulldogs open up the 2003 season August the 30th. Valdosta State hosts Albany State and Georgia heads to Clemson.
