Nashville - A South Georgia police captain under investigation by the G.B.I. has resigned.

Former Nashville Police Captain Andy Owen handed over his resignation on July 1, after being suspended without pay for one week. He was suspended with pay for two weeks prior to that.

Owen became the subject of a G-B-I investigation back in June after multiple citizen complaints for improper police conduct. The G-B-I is still investigating the case, and hopes to have it wrapped up by the end of August.

City manager Timothy Hill says the city will not fill the captain's position due to budget constraints.
