Albany- People living in rural areas of Southwest Georgia will eventually be getting reminders about cancer screenings thanks to an Albany company.
The Merck Foundation gave a two-year grant for $100,000 to the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition. The money will be used to develop a patient reminder program that will lead to early detection of cancer among people here.
The Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition was one of three programs named last month as a Regional Program of Excellence by the Georgia Cancer Coalition.
