Albany- The state has adopted a new license plate replacing the current one. This time the state website will appear across the top, but the peach will remain in the background.

New plates will list letters before the numbers. You'll get your new plates when you register for 2004 tags.

"The ones that already have the prestige tags will have to apply for it by July 31st of this year if they want to keep the same letters on their plate for 2004," says Tag Office Supervisor, Cathy Brown.

Those with wildlife or other specialty plates will not have to meet the July 31st deadline, but the look and price of those plates will change as well.
