Police investigate 4th stabbing death

July 6, 2003

Bainbridge- Police say 35 year old James Peterson was visiting his neighbor Amos Jackson at this apartment Friday night when the two began to fight.

Jackson pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed Peterson in the neck. Peterson walked away from the apartment and collapsed on a nearby walkway. He later died in the hospital.

Friends of both men are still in shock about what happened. "He didn't deserve to die like he died and I hate that happened like that. I was a friend of Mr. Jackson also and I also knew he wouldn't hurt nobody. I think it was just things happen, and everybody's sorry now because it happened. But, this needs to be a lesson to everybody that violence doesn't solve things," says Kimberly Dawson.

Jackson is being held in the Decatur County jail on $50,000 bond. His is charged with voluntary manslaughter.
