Americus-- Police have identified the man killed in yesterday's fiery crash in Sumter County as 42-year old James Dale Mayfield of Arab, Alabama.
Mayfield was hauling rolled sheet metal when his truck ran off Highway 280 near DeSoto. The big rig hit a tree and burst into flames. Mayfield was dead at the scene.
