Albany -- One of her first duties brought the new Miss Georgia to Albany Monday. 24-year-old Andrea Bailey was crowned Miss Georgia 2003 in Columbus Saturday night.
Monday she was posing for studio portraits for the Miss America Pageant by Albany's Art Johnson of Memories In Minutes, the official Miss Georgia photographer. Bailey's determination showed in her victory in Columbus.
A participant in five Miss Georgia competition's, Bailey had been the first runner-up the last three years. Now she enjoys the win, while performing many duties as Miss Georgia.
Bailey said "I grew up in Augusta, I finished my college in Atlanta, and I currently have been residing in Savannah. Now I'm living in Columbus, so I've had the opportunity to be all over the state. As part of being Miss Georgia, I'll actually get to tour around the state and talk about the American Red Cross, which is my platform. And that's something I'm definitely looking forward to promoting."
Andrea Bailey won 20 thousand dollars in scholarships and awards, and hopes to one day compose songs and film scores.
First she prepares to represent the Peach State in the Miss America Pageant, September 20th in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
