Lowndes County - A Florida man is in jail tonight for driving under the influence and leading a Georgia State Patrol on a high speed chase.

The trooper tried to pull over 18-year-old Phillip Austin Pueschel on I-75 in Lowndes County for trying to turn around in the median.

When he turned on his blue lights, Pueschel wouldn't stop. The trooper chased him for about a mile, until Pueschel crashed his car into a culvert. Pueschel then tried to flee on foot.

"After he crashed he got out and started running but our trooper was close behind and apprehended him soon after the crash," said Sgt. Ronald Warren.

Pueschel is being held in the Lowndes County jail charged with D.U.I., fleeing and trying to allude an officer, and multiple traffic violations.
