Post 30 sweeps Independence Classic titles

June 29, 2003

Albany-Pitching and defense got Albany Post 30 into the title game of their own Independence Classic at the Paul Eames complex and it was pitching and defense that carried them to the tournament title.

Brian Lovering tosses a four hit shutout in Post 30's 5-0 win over Vienna Post 202.

The win avenges a 5-2 loss to Vienna the day before.

Trevion Griffin, who got in one of those five runs with a squeeze bunt in the fifth inning, was named tournament most valuable player.

Albany Post 30's JV team made it clean sweep by beating Troy, Alabama 1-0 in the junior division championship game.
