Valdosta - Georgia firefighters are raising money for burned children. The state-wide "Give burns the boot" campaign kicked off Thursday.

Valdosta firefighters are filling their boots with money at Harveys, Winn Dixie, and Walmart and Super Walmart. The funds will benefit the Georgia Firefighters' Burn Foundation.

"They do rehabilitation operations, provide burn treatment, and also provide counseling from other firefighters, kind of like a big brother effort," said Lt. James Williams.

Thursday, Valdosta firefighters raised an estimated $3,000.00.

The fundraiser will end Saturday evening at 6:00.
