Thomasville-Believe it or not it's already been ten years since Thomasville native Charlie Ward led the Florida State Seminoles to their first national football championship. Ward, who opted to play professional basketball rather than football, is back in his hometown this week conducting his 6th annual basketball camp.
The New York Knicks point guard will be spreading himself between four Thomasville schools over the next two days speaking to the campers and also going over some basic drills. Ward, the most decorated player in college football history, was at the Brookwood School this afternoon talking to a group of young girls.
Charlie Ward says the most important message he wants to send to young kids is that they too can make something of themselves if they work hard enough.
"I enjoy coming back and sharing and also bringing friends to come and share and impart wisdom into the young people. Just to give them an opportunity to see that you can go off and come back and do something good," Ward said.
The Charlie Ward basketball camp runs thru Thursday.
