Albany - The Dougherty County Police Department has a new Assistant Chief and her appointment is history making.

Jackie Ford is DCP's first female assistant chief. She's worked for the Dougherty County Police Department since November of 1980.

Chief Don Cheek says there were six applicants for the position, and Ford was the most qualified for the job.
