VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A 2-0 start has the Valdosta State back in the national Division II polls.
The Blazers are ranked 20th in this week's American Football Coaches Association poll.
The Blazers would likely climb higher next week if they can beat Delta State on Saturday.
It is the Gulf South opener for Valdosta State. An early win over the Statesmen will certainly help the Blazers in their bid to win the conference title. Conference standings aren't motivating VSU this week. The Blazers have lost four straight to Delta and VSU wants that losing streak to end Saturday.
David Dean said. "It has been frustrating because we have been right in there with a chance to beat them but have not been able to pull it off. To their credit they are a good football team. You cannot give them any breaks and that is what we are doing right now is we are giving them breaks."
Game time is 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium in Valdosta.
