ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  It was a tearful reunion a the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport as a mother returned from Iraq just in time to celebrate he son's first birthday.

Private First Class Amanda Sindy arrived back in Albany just before 11:00 Am Thursday and could barley wait to see her son. She had to begin a 14 month tour in Iraq when Cayden was just five months old.

She's been able to watch his progress through pictures, but was surprised to see just how big he was. She worries what she's missing while away.

"I worried that it would just be so hard, that he would cry or that he wouldn't want to talk to me or touch me or anything, but with him just waking up it's kind of like that now, but still I know if I ever see him on camera he's always smiling," said Amandy Sindy.

Cayden turns one next week. In addition to his birthday, Amanda also hopes to take her son to the beach while she's on leave.

She'll return to Iraq and end her tour sometime in the spring. Her cousin is helping care for Cayden while she's overseas.
