ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  The signing of the U. S. Constitution came to life at Darton College, thanks to the help of college students.

Members of Sigma Chi Eta, the National Communication Honor Society and the Democrat, Independent, and Republican Team assumed the roles of our forefathers an re-enacted the signing of the constitution.

At one time, every home had a copy of the constitution. Now very few homes have a copy and students only exposure is during history class.

Organizers of today's event hope to remind people what our forefathers gave up to get a constitution.

"These people had homes and families and property and wealth that they lost because of this and I think that we forget that and forget that they lived for 10 years after the Declaration and the Articles of the Confederation and that they were about to fall apart," said Tina Burney of Darton College.

Constitution Day is actually Friday, September 17th.
