SUMTER COUNTY, GA (WALB) – In Sumter County deputies worked with the Governor's Drug Task Force for the last two days looking for marijuana fields from the air.

They uncovered dozens of plants yesterday in a remote area of the county. Many were more than 12 feet tall.

Investigators say the plants could have produced $40,000 worth of pot.

No suspects have been arrested yet. Sumter County works with the state on the marijuana flyover once a year.

The Drug Enforcement Administration helps pay for it with seized drug assets.
