Rams prepare for early SIAC showdown with rival Tigers

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany State wants to get back on top in the SIAC and the Rams know the road to the conference title runs through Tuskegee.The big showdown has moved from late October to this weekend in Tuskegee.


How much does this game impact the SIAC championship?

The Tigers have won four straight from the Rams and Tuskegee has also won four straight SIAC titles including a come from behind 21-19 win last year at the Rams den.

Head coach Mike White knows there is still plenty of football to play after the Tuskegee game.

The coach would love to have Tuskegee chasing his Rams the rest of the season instead of his Rams chasing the Tigers.

hite said. "We had to push forward in camp. What we needed to get ready and we knew we needed to get ready early. It is on the calendar like that. That is the way it fell. We are going to be there to play it this Saturday."



Albany State running back Robert Welton was named the SIAC's offensive player of the week after his 103 yard rushing performance against Clark Atlanta.

Rams play at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Tuskegee.
