VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Quarterback Jimmy Coy has left the Valdosta State football team.
Coy wants to transfer to a school where he will have a better chance to play.
Coy, who transferred from El Camino Junior College last year, started the Blazers season opener against Wingate but was replaced in the second half of that game by Brett Whitmore.
Whitmire started Saturday's game at Newberry.
Coy's departure leaves the Blazers without a tested backup quarterback.
Valdosta State hosts Delta State in the Blazers conference opener Saturday at one o'clock.
