Moultrie natives highlight GSHF class

MACON, GA (WALB) -  Moultrie-Colquitt County has a great history of sports and that is proven with two athletes picked for induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.Former University of Georgia greats Ray Goff and Lisa Spain Short are two of the seven members selected for induction at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.

 

 

Goff led Georgia to the 1976 SEC championship and Lisa Spain Short became the first female tennis player at Georgia to win a NCAA singles title.

Former Warner Robins and Westside High coach Robert Davis, NBA great Dale Ellis, former Pittsburgh Steeler and Florida State defensive back J.T. Thomas, Columbus golfer William Ploeger and former college football official Joe DeLany complete this year's class.

The date for the 2011 Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be announced at a later date.
